The Capricious Cup was an intercollegiate ceramic exhibition hosted at Art Center West in Roswell, Georgia, serving as a pivotal platform for artistic exchange and collaboration. Featuring innovative interpretations of the drinking vessel, the exhibition brought together students and faculty from Clemson University, Arkansas State University, the University of Florida, and The University of Alabama, alongside eight nationally recognized ceramic artists. This distinguished lineup elevated the exhibition beyond an academic showcase.

Organized by Wade MacDonald, The Capricious Cup celebrated the diverse material, conceptual, and technical approaches to the cup, emphasizing its dual role as both a ubiquitous functional object and a powerful vehicle for exploration. The inclusion of renowned artists strengthened connections between emerging and established makers. By engaging with Art Center West, this exhibition not only reinforced a vital institutional partnership but also cultivated broader professional networks, laying the groundwork for future collaborations that will continue to elevate ceramic education and practice in the region.
