Exhibition Title: Reflection on Synthetic Action Julie Malen, Adrian Segal, Jessica Harvey, Brie Ruias, Wade MacDonald, Ethan Jackson, John Emerson, Katie Lewis, David Aipperspach Dates: 01/2016 - 02/2016 Venue: Patton - Mallot Gallery, Anderson Ranch Art Center Project Statement: The resident artist experience is characterized as an occasion for introspection and in-depth research propelling one’s work to a level unexpected. In the winter of 2015, fourteen dynamic artists, representing myriad interests and material expertise, converged as a resident community at Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado. The resultant didactic experience challenged each individual’s notions concerning artistic making and thinking. Synthesis is the result of an environment that fosters and nurtures energetic interaction; Anderson Ranch is a natural incubator for the development of artistic methods that serve artists and their communities long after residents leave. Viewers of this exhibition are invited to engage, by proxy, with a group of vigorous artists and to share in the experience that is the Anderson Ranch Residency Program. |
